Thank you!

Big thanks to all of our volunteers this weekend! Thanks in part to several offsites, we had 17 adoptions. And even those that didn't get a new forever home got lots of attention. We had lots of happy dogs who got to go on field trips to Boomer Lake and fun adoption events where they got loads of attention. Our dogs really crave this one on one attention and time away from the shelter and we are so grateful to everyone who makes this possible.

Foster home orientation

Have you seen our pleas for foster homes and wondered what was in involved in fostering? Thinking about getting more involved but not sure how? Maybe you have some valuable training skills to share, want the experience of raising a litter or want to have a pet in your home but need a shorter term commitment. If you have ever wondered if fostering is for you, attend our foster home orientation for more details and to ask any questions you may have!

Puppy Season is here

Just in case you were wondering.. puppy season is here...

And while adorable, they put a drain on our budget and occupy lots of our time.




So if you can spare a few minutes to help us make sure everyone, puppy and adult, gets some love and exercise every day or help donate the supplies necessary to care for them, we would all really appreciate it. Help us make sure that every one of these great pups get the chance to grow up to be somebody's best friend!

Drivers are 20 dollars, riders 10 dollars
Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Petco in Stillwater!

Buddies

No real message here.. just some adorable pictures of 'buddies' here at the shelter. And a reminder that, canine, feline or human, it is good to have friends! Thanks to our volunteers, adopters, donors and foster homes for being our buddies. We couldn't save any of these precious lives without you.

Perfect way to spend a nice afternoon

The weather is finally getting nice. And if the winter made you a little stir crazy, imagine how our dogs feel!






We think that playing with puppy dogs is the perfect way to spend a nice afternoon.. and our dogs agree! With no volunteers, our dogs have to stay inside and don't get the chance to enjoy the beautiful day. So come out and volunteer and you can enjoy the day together!

Edison feels like a supermodel!

When Edison was abandoned on the side of the road he was rather sad and dirty..


After a trip to our friends at Pretty Paws for a groom, his spirits were lifted and he looked and felt like a supermodel! We barely recognized this handsome boy. Strut your stuff Edison1

Restaurant fundraisers!

We have several 'Eat for the Animals' fundraisers coming up! Eat at the Stillwater restaurant on the day listed during the times listed and a portion of the proceeds will go to help us care for the animals! So put these dates on the calendar, call your friends and treat yourself to some good food while helping the animals!

Rib Crib: Thursday, April 8th 5pm to 10pm

Texas Roadhouse: Monday April 26th 4pm to 10pm (flier required- available at shelter or restaurant)

What a difference a good hair cut makes!

When poor Desi was surrendered to the shelter, she looked like this..



She felt pretty miserable too with all of that nasty, dirty fur. We called our friends at Pretty Paws grooming here in Stillwater (http://www.pretty-pawsgrooming.com/) and now look at her!



A big thanks to our friends at Pretty Paws for grooming our adoptable dogs at no charge to the Humane Society! It makes a huge difference to us and to animals like Desi!

Spring events!

Spring is here and we have lots of events planned- we just need volunteers to staff them! If you can even spare an hour or two to help with one of these events we would be very grateful.

For the month of March we will be at Petco every Saturday from 12 to 4pm selling raffle tickets and trying to get dogs adopted. If you want to help out with Petco, show up at the shelter at 11:30 and we will match you with an animal to 'showcase' for the day.

We will have an adoption event at Atwoods March 27th from 10 to 4. These events are great, especially for our bigger dogs because we are in the parking lot with outdoor kennels set up. The weather should be beautiful! We have an adoption event at Verizon on Perkins and Hall of Fame on March 28th from 2pm to 4pm. If you want to help with either of these events, show up at the shelter approximately 30 minutes before they begin so you can be matched with a dog or puppy for the day.
We have a poker run fundraiser coming up on March 28th that we will need volunteers for as well.


If you volunteer for an event, you do not have to stay for the duration of the event. If you are coming late or leaving early just let us know. If you want to volunteer for any of these events contact us, but if you don't decide to volunteer until right before don't feel bad about just showing up either!
