What a great year!

Julian was rescued by the Humane Society, treated for heartworms, and adopted into a new home in 2009

In 2009, the Humane Society of Stillwater found homes for 472 dogs and 369 cats. Wow! Thank you so much to everyone who adopted, volunteered, fostered and donated! This is phenomenal for us- last year we found homes for 211 dogs and 126 cats. We doubled our dog adoptions and almost tripled our cat adoptions!

Switch and littermates came in very tiny and were failing to thrive- their lives were saved by a kind person willing to foster them and help them grow up. They all are now in wonderful homes.

And we have made a resolution to make 2010 even better! Come out and help us reach our goals for this year. We need volunteers to walk and train the dogs to make them ready for new homes. We need volunteers to brush and socialize cats. We desperately need volunteers on Wednesdays and Thursdays to help care for newly rescued animals- they need nails trimmed, baths and help settling in. Rescuing so many animals has put a big financial strain on us- we need new ideas for fundraisers and help with fundraisers (big or small!). We are constantly striving to expand our definition of 'adoptable'- to accomplish this we need foster homes for baby animals and animals needing rehabilitation, we need sponsers for animals with health issues that are above and beyond our budget and we need adopters who can see the beauty in a pet other people ordinarily would not. So come in and help us make 2010 even better than 2009!

Precious Natasha hopes 2010 brings her a family
